Johan Kristofferson took an historic victory at the first event with the new electric cars in the FIA World Rallycross Championship, and an impressive 3rd for Ole Christian Veiby in his return to the championship.
August 15, 2022
The world of rallycross started the 2022 season and the new era with the all-electric Supercars at Lånkebanen in Norway this weekend. 4 times world champion Johan Kristofferson, competing in a Volkswagen Supercar, took an historic victory when winning the first round with the new cars. - Incredible to win this first historic race and extra fun that we are two from the team on the podium. I saw that Niclas put pressure on Ole Christian and that he wouldn't give up his line, so I tried my luck on the inside. Very happy for the whole team. The amount of work that the boys have put in the last week is unreal.
Making his return to the world RX Ole Christian Veiby started from pole in the semifinal and took home an impressive 3rd in the final: - Of course when you are in pole position in the final you dream of a victory, but it got tight in the first corner. But anyway great with a solid performance on home ground and reach the podium. If someone had said before this weekend that we would finish first and third I would have taken that immediately!
Both Johan and Ole Christian will be competing in the 2022 FIA World RX with Volkswagen Dealerteam Bauhaus in a Volkswagen Supercar. The round at Hell in Norway marks the beginning of the new era with the all-electric cars.
